Agarwal Samaj Goa (Regd.)

"Agrawal (Agarwal, Agrawala, Agarwala, Aggarwal) is a community found throughout northern India, including in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. The Agrawals claim descent from king Agrasena of the mythological Solar Dynasty who adopted Vanika dharma for the benefit of his people. Literally, Agrawal means the "children of Agrasena" or the "people of Agroha", a city in ancient Kuru Panchala, near Hisar in Haryana said to be founded by Agrasena"

From the table of President –

It was the occasion of Maharaja Agrashen Jayanti in the year 1996 when three Agrawal families thought of celebrating the Jayanti publicly for the first time in the State of Goa. Thereupon it was decided to invite other Agrawal families from across Goa.
Although Goa is a small state, yet it is not so tiny as for them to be aware of all the Agrawals who may be living in the State. They came up with the idea of using the telephone directory published by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited ( B.S.N.L.) to scan and contact the Agrawal families in the State.
This bore fruit, and about 25 Agrawal families came together to celebrate Agrashen Jayanti. The function was organised in a small hall at Ponda, and marked the foundation day of this organisation. During the last 18 years since its inception, the members of Agrawal Samaj Goa have not only served the State in the field of industry but also assisted the establishment via various welfare schemes.
The first Agrawal family (Shri G.N. Agrawal) arrived in the State much prior of Libration of Goa. Yet, Goa cannot forget the contribution of Agrakulbhusan Dr. Rammanohar Lohiya. Dr Lohiya is considered the pioneer of freedom struggle of Goa arrived here in 1946. This website aims to help and make aware the people of Goa how this small community of Agrawals is engaged in development of this State, which we have made our home.
